The head of the Federation of Speed Skating supported the name of the Ice Arena.

      The Executive Director of the Federation of Speed Skating of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Elena Ivanova, commented on pravda-nn.ru about the name given to the Ice Arena at Strelka - "Volga Arena."

      "I really love our Volga! Nizhny Novgorod for me is, first of all, the Volga, the Oka, Strelka, our rich history. Now, when we celebrate Victory Day, you remember your relatives, fellow countrymen who fought on the fronts, worked at the machines. Nizhny Novgorod is a city of labor valor, and that says it all. Among the enterprises that sent a huge number of cars, tanks, self-propelled guns, and ammunition to the front, was, of course, our glorious automotive giant. The legendary one-and-a-half-ton trucks played a huge role in the Great Patriotic War. And then there were "Pobeda," "Chaika," "Volga." I am very glad that the production of the "Volga" has resumed. This is a brand that has been associated with Gorky, Nizhny Novgorod for decades. Therefore, the name of the ice arena "VOLGA Arena" seems absolutely justified to me. The use of Latin letters in this case does not confuse me at all. It would be wonderful if our car enters the foreign market and takes a worthy place there. The Volga for me is always a breath of fresh air, an emotional and energetic charge. I wish that for our hockey club "Torpedo," the new ice arena also becomes a place of strength."
