The "Health Trains" visited more than 250 settlements in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
May 6, 2026 17:59 Society More than 250 settlements in the Nizhny Novgorod region have been visited by the "Health Trains" medical teams since the beginning of the year. From January to April, over 14,000 residents received assistance from specialists. This was reported by the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko, which is the base for forming mobile medical teams. According to the acting director of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko, Sergey Gamayunov, more than 24,000 medical consultations have already been conducted on the "Health Trains," as well as about 50,000 instrumental and laboratory studies. The main result of the doctors' work is the early diagnosis of dangerous diseases and timely referrals for further examination and specialized treatment. This aligns with the goals and objectives of the national project "Sustained and Active Life," initiated by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. "The interim results of our mobile teams' work show more than 2,900 cases of newly detected diseases, including over 30 cases of malignant neoplasms," explained Sergey Gamayunov. The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko reported that about 70% of all residents examined by the "Health Trains" are referred for further examination. Timely suspicion and recognition of diseases are aided by mobile diagnostic technologies—since the beginning of 2026, doctors have performed over 5,000 fluorographies, more than 1,500 ultrasound studies, and about 4,500 women have undergone examinations on a digital mammograph. The Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region reminded that the specialists of the "Health Trains" assist outpatient medical staff in conducting preventive examinations and dispensarization. Preventive measures are the foundation for maintaining public health. "The 'Health Trains' project addresses the issue of 'geographical inequality' in access to medical care. Residents of remote settlements do not need to travel to Nizhny Novgorod or neighboring centers for quality consultations—medicine comes to them. It is important that deputies and activists of 'United Russia' monitor the schedule of mobile complexes and gather 'feedback' from residents to ensure that the work meets the population's needs. This is a direct implementation of the party's people's program task to improve the quality of life and accessibility of medical care in small towns and rural areas," noted Irina Makarova, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region (United Russia faction). It should be noted that the "Health Trains" project has been implemented since 2018 at the initiative of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin. The schedule of mobile diagnostic complexes is published monthly on the website of the Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region zdrav-nnov.ru/informatsiya/poezda-zdorovya/. It is planned that in May, specialists will visit 19 municipal formations in the region. Residents of nearly 350 settlements in the region will be able to undergo examinations.
