On the eve of Victory Day, lessons of courage with participants of the Special Military Operation are held in Nizhny Novgorod schools.
On May 6, 2026, at 18:12 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, in anticipation of Victory Day, activists of the "Volunteers of Victory" movement are holding meetings between veterans of the special military operation and students from schools, colleges, and universities. A total of 56 events will take place within the framework of the regional project "Heroes of the Homeland" across all districts of the region. The project is aimed at the patriotic education of youth and is conducted as part of the national project "Youth and Children."
"Today, more than ever, it is important for the younger generation to hear the truth about the heroism of our fighters from the first-hand accounts. Such meetings are not just a history lesson; they are a thread that connects the feats of veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the courage of modern defenders of the Fatherland. We must preserve this memory and pass it on to those who will build the future," said Maria Samodelkina, head of the NRO of the All-Russian Public Organization "Volunteers of Victory."
At these meetings, invited guests also include participants of the project "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region." For instance, at school No. 94 in Nizhny Novgorod, a veteran of the special military operation and participant of the program "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region," Ravil Ravilov, spoke with the students.
He told the schoolchildren that true victory consists of the small feats of each individual: some fight on the front lines, some heal the wounded, and some weave nets. The hero emphasized that Russia's strength has always been in the unity of its people, and today, just as in the distant 1945, the enemy can only be defeated together.
"If we, the living witnesses of the modern struggle, do not tell the kids what our grandfathers fought for and what we are fighting for now, this truth will be filled by someone else—with lies and doubts. I believe that the most terrible enemy is forgetfulness. Therefore, such lessons of courage are needed not by us, veterans and participants of the special military operation, but by the children—so that they grow up with their heads held high. Telling them about Victory is our common duty," shared Ravil Ravilov.
Since the beginning of the academic year, within the framework of the regional project "Heroes of the Homeland," Nizhny Novgorod volunteers of Victory have already held 250 meetings with participants of the special military operation in Nizhny Novgorod and other cities in the region. More than 10,000 schoolchildren and students have participated in them.
Let us remind you that starting in 2025, a national project "Youth and Children" has been implemented in Russia by order of President Vladimir Putin, which fulfills tasks previously outlined in the national projects "Education," "Science and Universities." The national project aims to create opportunities for the development of talents and self-realization of young people, fostering responsible and highly moral individuals. At the center of the national project are the construction and renovation of schools, improving the qualifications of teachers, creating new teaching methodologies, and comfortable learning conditions. Special attention is given to supporting talented youth, including young specialists. The national project includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia—a Land of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for the Generation of Leaders," "Professionalism."
