A gang of fake FSB employees is being tried in Dzerzhinsk for a series of attacks and thefts.

      On May 6, 2026, at 11:00, Incidents. Investigators from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Dzerzhinsk, together with employees of the regional FSB, completed the investigation of a criminal case against members of a criminal group accused of a series of serious crimes in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and the Bogorodsky district. According to the investigation, the group was organized in 2023 by a previously convicted resident of Dzerzhinsk born in 1994. Three of his acquaintances joined the gang. The investigation believes that the criminals prepared in advance for the crimes. Using technical means, they monitored the victim, studied his movement routes, social circle, and found out where his property was located. The goal was to seize the man's money and valuables. On November 23, 2023, the group members arrived at the home of the victim's friend in the Bogorodsky district. Using a fake ID, they introduced themselves as FSB officers and burst inside. Threatening violence and using information from the man's personal life obtained during surveillance, the attackers subdued the resistance of the homeowners. Fearing for himself and his loved ones, the victim told the criminals that he kept 2 million rubles in his apartment in Nizhny Novgorod. After that, the accused took his keys to all the properties and also stole property worth more than 250 thousand rubles from his friend's house. On the same day in Nizhny Novgorod, the victim handed over 2 million rubles to the fake law enforcement officers. Additionally, the investigation established the group's involvement in the theft from the victim's country house in the Bogorodsky district. According to police data, the criminals gained access using keys that they had previously taken from the man. They removed almost everything they could carry from the house: a bath vat, garden furniture, household appliances, a cooking panel, sheets, and even markers. The total damage exceeded 1.2 million rubles. Later, using compromising information obtained during surveillance, the accused discovered that the victim had property in Dzerzhinsk. After that, they broke into the apartment that the man was renting out. According to the investigation, the criminals beat the tenant and took all the electronics as well as a piece of jewelry. The suspects then headed to the garage boxes, intending to continue their crimes; however, their actions were interrupted by traffic police officers patrolling the area. Criminal cases were initiated against the group members under articles on robbery, theft, and attempted robbery. As reported by the police press service, the investigation gathered sufficient evidence. The investigation is complete, and the criminal case has been sent to court. One of the suspects has already been found guilty. The court sentenced him to 9 years in prison to be served in a strict regime colony. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
