Doctors have given advice on caring for patients with diabetic foot.
May 4, 2026 18:30 Society Diabetic foot is one of the most serious complications of diabetes, especially for patients with incurable forms of the disease. The coordination center for palliative medical care in the Moscow region shared important recommendations for foot care in such situations, reports 360.ru. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that palliative patients often do not feel pain due to reduced sensitivity and cannot independently monitor the condition of their feet. Even minor skin injuries can go unnoticed, and impaired circulation slows their healing. In such conditions, infections develop more quickly, and even a small crack or corn can lead to serious inflammatory processes. Daily care and prevention play a key role in preventing complications. Specialists recommend regularly inspecting the feet—morning and evening—paying special attention to the soles, heels, and between the toes. It is important to maintain cleanliness and dryness of the skin, use moisturizing products, and monitor the condition of the nails. Shoes should be comfortable, without hard elements, and socks should be made of natural materials. Monitoring blood glucose levels is also an important aspect of prevention. Specialist from the coordination center Irina Aristarkhova emphasized that attentive care for the condition of the feet helps prevent severe complications. Relatives and caregivers should be aware of the main signs of problems: changes in skin color, increased temperature of the feet, swelling, injuries, pain, and discomfort.
