Shalabaev urged Nizhny Novgorod residents to report dangerous manholes and wires.
On May 4, 2026, at 16:17, Society The head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, made the decision to revive the "SafeNO" project. The mayor shared this on his social media. The initiative was launched in 2024 and was the result of joint efforts by the authorities and the Public Chamber of the region. Yuri Shalabaev noted that it could be called "the project of the Nizhny Novgorod residents themselves." Thanks to "SafeNO," specialists and local residents identified dangers awaiting pedestrians on the street. These included: open manholes, torn wires, protruding metal rods, and rebar sticking out of the ground. Two years ago, the signals processed allowed the discovery of more than 800 open manholes in the city. The project has already resumed its work, "while the grass has not yet grown actively." Until May 31 inclusive, anyone can report a potentially dangerous object by calling 268-11-61 or using the application on the feedback platform "Lobachevsky." "I will definitely tell about the results of our joint work," the mayor promised. Earlier, we reported that Osharskaya Street would be partially closed to traffic due to network relaying.
