      The sowing campaign has started in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Farmers have begun sowing spring wheat, barley, oats, peas, and sunflowers. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Agriculture. "This year, it is planned to sow 557.5 thousand hectares with spring crops. Due to weather conditions, the sowing campaign started later than usual, but in the last few days, the temperature has stabilized, and in 15 districts, sowing has begun. Currently, one percent of the plan has been sown—about six thousand hectares. In addition, work on fertilizing and harrowing winter crops continues. Almost 40 percent of the total area has been fertilized," said Nikolai Denisov, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Sowing of wheat has begun in the Arzamas, Gaginsky, Krasnooktyabrsky, and Shatkovsky districts. Barley sowing has started in the Gaginsky, Diveyevsky, Pilninsky, Pochinkovsky, Shatkovsky, and Gorodetsky districts. Oats are being sown in the Pavlovsky, Pochinkovsky, and Gorodetsky districts, while peas are being sown in the Bogorodsky, Vadsky, Gaginsky, Diveyevsky, and Sechenovsky districts. The sowing of perennial legumes has started in the Pochinkovsky district, and sunflowers in the Dalnekonstantinovsky district. Fertilizing and harrowing of winter crops have begun in all districts of the central zone except Nizhny Novgorod, in 14 districts of the southern zone of the region, and in seven districts of the northern zone. Harrowing and fertilizing of perennial grasses is ongoing in 21 municipalities. Harrowing of fallow land has started in 28 districts. "Spring grains and legumes will occupy almost 377 thousand hectares, forage crops—almost 88 thousand, oilseeds—about 80 thousand, vegetables and potatoes—about 14 thousand," added Nikolai Denisov.
