A special regime was introduced in the forests of the Nizhny Novgorod region starting from April 30.
On May 1, 2026, at 12:00, Society. As of April 30, 2026, a special fire safety regime has been introduced in the forest fund lands of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The corresponding decree of the regional government No. 176 was adopted on April 30, the regional Ministry of Forestry reported.
As explained by the head of the relevant ministry, Roman Vorobyov, the decision is related to the expected warming and increased risk of fires. The sharp transition from precipitation to high temperatures significantly increases the likelihood of forest fires, so the introduction of a special regime is a necessary preventive measure.
"The personnel of the ministry and subordinate institutions are transitioning to an enhanced work mode. Duty shifts will be organized for continuous monitoring of the situation and timely detection of fire outbreaks," he reported.
Within the framework of the special regime, additional restrictions are being introduced. In particular, the lighting of fires, the use of barbecues in open areas, and the operation of vehicles with faulty exhaust systems in forested areas are prohibited. Furthermore, when the fourth and fifth classes of fire danger are established, access to forests is restricted.
A complete list of current prohibitions and restrictions is posted on the official website of the regional Ministry of Forestry. There, information about the classes of fire danger by districts of the region is updated daily.
For violations of the requirements during the special regime, increased fines are provided: for individuals - up to 50,000 rubles, for officials - up to 90,000 rubles, for legal entities - up to 1 million rubles. In addition, for the destruction or damage of forest plantations due to careless handling of fire, criminal liability is provided under Article 261 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The agency reminded that increasing the effectiveness of forest protection from fires is one of the key tasks of the federal project "Forest Conservation," implemented within the framework of the national project "Ecological Well-Being."
The ministry also urged residents to follow fire safety rules and promptly report fires and violations to the forest protection hotline: 8 (800) 100-94-00 and the regional dispatch service: 8 (831) 430-01-23. It is noted that the lines operate around the clock.
Earlier, it was reported that the Nizhny Novgorod city administration created a headquarters to combat forest and peat fires. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
