Nizhny Novgorod residents will be able to join the bone marrow donor registry without donating blood.

      April 26, 2026 11:57 Society Residents of Nizhny Novgorod aged 18 to 45 will be able to join the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors. The event will take place on April 27 at 1:00 PM at the community center on Donetskaya Street, 5, the administration of Nizhny Novgorod reported. The event will be held in a simplified format — potential donors will not need to donate blood. To be included in the register, it is enough to take a swab from the inside of the cheek — buccal epithelium. The procedure is carried out using a sterile swab. All collected samples will be labeled, securely packaged, and sent to the Federal State Budgetary Institution "RosNIIGT FMBA of Russia" for typing. Within 2-4 weeks, information about new donors will appear in the Federal Register, and it can be used to search for compatibility with patients who need a transplant.
