On the eve of the anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster, a meeting was held in Nizhny Novgorod with the liquidators of the consequences of the catastrophe. The event took place on April 24 at the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs with the participation of the leadership of the headquarters and veterans of the service, the press service of the department reported. Today, 67 liquidators are registered with the department, including one active employee and 66 veterans. Ten people were able to attend the meeting. The head of the headquarters, Yuri Arsentyev, personally thanked each one, presented letters of appreciation and commemorative gifts. He noted that the courage of the liquidators remains an example for current police officers. According to him, their feat shows how, in the most difficult moments, people unite for a common goal. A video was prepared for the participants with memories of those events. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the deceased. The event concluded with the laying of flowers at the monument to the Nizhny Novgorod liquidators.
