As part of the project, the reconstruction of hydraulic structures, dredging of the riverbed, and the construction of the second chamber of lock No. 15 are being carried out. All work is organized without stopping navigation. Despite the large-scale upgrade, traffic in the area continues as usual. In 2025, 6,650 vessels passed through the lock. They transported 3.2 million tons of cargo and 130,700 passengers. After the reconstruction is completed, the throughput capacity of the hydro junction will significantly increase. Currently, it is 3.6 million tons of cargo per year, but following the modernization, it will rise to 20 million tons annually. Let us remind you that the modernization project of the Gorodets hydro junction started in May 2023. A total of 21 billion rubles is allocated for its implementation.
