Nizhny Novgorod residents will participate in the largest obesity study in Russia.

The study titled "Orbit" is being launched by Geropharm, as reported by the editor-in-chief of MIA "Stationary Press," Alexey Nikонов, on his Telegram channel.

      The project aims to comprehensively study the problem of obesity among the adult population. Specialists plan to analyze patients' lifestyles, their level of awareness about the disease, and the impact of excess weight on various aspects of health.

      The data obtained will serve as the basis for developing the first domestic standards for obesity treatment, which will not depend on foreign research and the supply of foreign drugs.

      The program is set to start in June. The first phase is called "Jupiter." Within this framework, doctors will focus on studying patients' everyday habits, their understanding of the disease, and the impact of weight, including on reproductive health. It is noted that medical professionals will independently select participants with excess weight and obesity.

      According to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, about a quarter of the country's population suffers from obesity. Every year, this diagnosis is made for the first time for half a million people in Russia.

      It was previously reported that a weight loss program has been launched for Nizhny Novgorod doctors.
