The "Candy for a Cigarette" campaign was held by social community workers in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On April 24, 2026, at 10:09, the Society of Social District Officers held the "Candy for a Cigarette" campaign in Nizhny Novgorod, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing smoking.

      The event was a continuation of the public discussion highlighted by the results of a recent sociological survey: over 63% of residents consider the spread of harmful habits a serious social problem, and more than 90% of respondents support measures to limit the consumption of nicotine-containing products.

      The campaign took place in urban public spaces. During the event, passersby were symbolically offered to give up a cigarette or vape in exchange for a sweet treat. The organizers made the format as light and friendly as possible—without pressure or moralizing, respecting each participant's personal choice.

      Both smoking residents and those who already lead a healthy lifestyle joined the initiative. All participants were given candies and informational brochures about the harms of smoking and using electronic devices.

      "We do not aim to instantly change a person's habits. Our task is to give a reason to think and show that even a small step towards health is important. The conversation should be calm and respectful—only then does it yield results," emphasized a representative of the "Social District Officer" project.

      Residents positively assessed the format of the event, noting its unobtrusiveness and accessibility.

      The organizers are confident that such campaigns help build an open dialogue with residents and engage them in positive social initiatives.
