Nizhny Novgorod residents were reminded how to obtain a tax deduction for the GTO sign in 2026.

      April 23, 2026 12:00 Sports Since 2026, obtaining a tax deduction for meeting the standards of the "Ready for Labor and Defense" complex has been simplified in Russia. As reported by NEWS.ru, member of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes Nikita Chaplin stated that to apply for the deduction, one must provide a copy of the certificate of compliance with the GTO standards and a medical examination certificate.

      The parliamentarian reminded that the standard tax deduction for passing the standards has been in effect in the country since 2025. However, in 2026, the procedure for obtaining it became easier. Previously, it was necessary to undergo a medical check-up, which for citizens under 40 years old is conducted every three years, but now an annual preventive examination is sufficient.

      "The amount of the deduction is fixed at 18,000 rubles per year. With an income tax rate of 13%, the savings will amount to 2,340 rubles, and even more with a higher rate," noted Nikita Chaplin.

      To take advantage of the benefit, one must be a tax resident of Russia and have official income. It is also necessary to pass the standards for one's age category, receive a badge of distinction, and undergo a medical examination in the same year.

      The deputy emphasized that the right to the deduction arises only for those who personally met the standards. If the badge was received by a minor, their parents will not be able to apply for the benefit. The benefit does not apply to individual entrepreneurs using the simplified tax system, as well as to self-employed individuals.

      The refund can be processed in two ways. The first is to contact the employer by submitting an application to the accounting department. In this case, the tax will stop being withheld from the next paycheck. The second option is to submit a 3-NDFL declaration to the tax office at the end of the year.

      It was previously reported that in the Nizhny Novgorod region, entry fees for certain categories of athletes under 18 for participation in regional competitions have been canceled.
