The tactile model of the Gorky monument has been reinstalled in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On April 17, 2026, at 11:44, Culture and Leisure: The tactile model of the monument to Maxim Gorky has returned to the square of the same name in Nizhny Novgorod, reported the city's head, Yuri Shalabaev, on social media.

      Reduced in size by 35 times, copies of the city's landmarks began to be installed in the fall of 2023. At that time, 12 such objects appeared. With their help, visually impaired people can explore the history and architecture of the Volga capital. Each model features Braille and a QR code that allows users to listen to an audio guide.

      However, soon vandals became active. They began to break the tactile model, taking the figure with them. As a result, the authorities decided to first install a camera in the square connected to the "Safe City" system, and only then return the Gorky figure to its pedestal. This was ultimately done.

      "If vandalism continues, the face of this 'hero' will be seen not only by the police but by the entire city. We will gladly take care of this," noted Shalabaev.

      Earlier, the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, criticized the vandals.
