      April 14, 2026 14:23 Incidents The police are investigating reports of damaged gravestones at the Dzerzhinsk cemetery. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Over the course of two weeks, several appeals from the cemetery administration regarding damage to gravestone complexes at more than ten graves were received by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

      An investigative operational group was dispatched to the scene. As of April 14, 16 destroyed monuments have been counted.

      "The monuments at the burials of representatives of various ethnic groups have been damaged," the department emphasized.

      It is currently being determined how exactly the monuments were damaged. If it turns out that this was done intentionally, a decision will be made in accordance with the law.

      It should be noted that this is not the first case of vandalism at the cemetery in Dzerzhinsk. In October 2025, gravestones at six graves, including those of participants in the Special Military Operation, were damaged. A criminal case was initiated under the act of vandalism.
