On April 13, 2026, at 18:45, Incidents The Tver Court of Moscow sentenced former State Duma deputy from the Nizhny Novgorod region, former senator from the Tula region Dmitry Saveliev to 10 years in a strict regime colony for attempted murder. This was reported by "Izvestia". Additionally, the court restricted his freedom for two years and deprived him of state awards. The second defendant in the case, Sergey Dyukov, received 6.5 years of imprisonment. Taking into account the previously issued sentence, the final term amounted to eight years in a special regime colony with subsequent restriction of freedom for two years. The court also ordered the convicted individuals to jointly pay six million rubles to businessman Sergey Ionov. Earlier, the investigation established that in August 2023, Saveliev, motivated by personal animosity, instructed an acquaintance to organize the murder of Ionov. The acquaintance, in turn, involved his brother in the search for a perpetrator. The person who was offered to commit the crime reported the order to the FSB and acted under the control of law enforcement agencies. As part of operational activities, security forces staged the murder. After that, a fake confirmation of Ionov's death was handed over to Saveliev, and he settled with the alleged perpetrator. On March 25, the court already issued a sentence to Saveliev's acquaintance, who was involved in organizing the "murder". He received 4 years in a strict regime colony. His case was considered separately, as the defendant pleaded guilty, and the materials were allocated to a separate proceeding. It was also reported that in January, more than 609 million rubles were recovered from the former senator for violations of anti-corruption legislation. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
