A mother of many children from Nizhny Novgorod shared how the region supports the families of participants in the Special Military Operation.

      On April 13, 2026, at 16:56, Society. Nizhny Novgorod resident Yana, who is raising three children, shared her experience of receiving regional support measures as the wife of a serviceman currently in the special military operation zone. Her husband, Artem, has been awarded the "For Courage" medal and the Zhukov medal.

      As Yana told pravda-nn.ru, the family receives significant help thanks to the military social contract. This mechanism has been in effect in the region since October 2022 by the decree of Governor Gleb Nikitin. The Minister of Social Development and Family Policy of the region, Igor Sedykh, explained that the military social contract provides monthly payments of 10,000 rubles for each child, similar payments for pregnant women, and families in difficult life situations. There are also a number of additional measures during the serviceman's service.

      These include a 50% compensation for housing and utility expenses, subsidized vouchers for camps and sanatoriums, free extended care, social nanny services, household assistance, and free psychological support.

      Yana noted that when enrolling her youngest son in a speech therapy kindergarten, the family was treated with care, and the issue was resolved quickly. She is not charged for kindergarten. Her sixth-grade daughter and third-grade son are provided with free hot meals at school. Additionally, her daughter attends the art department of the children's school of arts for free.

      According to the Nizhny Novgorod resident, the contract payments are received on time. The family is also regularly offered tickets to cultural events and children's celebrations, and they receive New Year's gifts.

      Additionally, the family receives benefits as a large family: payments at the beginning of the school year, compensation for meals and transportation for schoolchildren, partial payment for housing and utility services. Furthermore, in 2024, they received a free plot of land as a family of a serviceman.

      "We have relatives living in different regions, and there is no support system for participants of the special military operation and their families like in the Nizhny Novgorod region anywhere else. I am grateful for such help!" Yana noted.
