April 11, 2026 10:05 SportsNizhny Novgorod's "Chaika" concluded the series against Kazan's "Irbis" with a victory and secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Kharlamov Cup. The fifth match (6+) of the confrontation took place in Kazan and ended with a score of 3:0 in favor of the guests.
The first two periods ended in a draw. In the second twenty-minute period, the Nizhny Novgorod team managed to hit the Kazan net, but after a video review, Viktor Fedorov's goal was disallowed due to a foot strike.
At the beginning of the third period, the guests finally achieved their goal. Yan Melnikov scored at the crease after a shot from Sergey Skvortsov. Six minutes later, Vladislav Mishin increased the lead by scoring from behind the net. The final score was set by Viktor Fedorov in the 59th minute, finishing Gleb Pugachev's pass — 3:0.
In the quarter-finals, "Chaika" will face the "Omsk Hawks." The first matches (6+) of the series will take place on April 14 and 15 in Omsk. The teams will then play in Nizhny Novgorod: the third meeting is scheduled for April 18.
The club added that if necessary, the fourth match will take place on April 19 at "Nagorny," but if "Torpedo" has a home game in the KHL playoffs, it will be moved to April 20. The fifth match, if needed, will be held on April 22 in Omsk. The series will continue until one of the teams wins three times.
