Nizhny Novgorod residents now have access to free laser treatment for varicose veins.

      On April 8, 2026, at 11:12 AM, Society In the City Clinical Hospital No. 5 of Nizhny Novgorod began performing laser minimally invasive surgeries for varicose veins of the lower extremities. The procedures are conducted under local anesthesia. The surgical intervention is performed without incisions. Patient selection is organized in the surgical reception department of GKB No. 5. Consultations take place on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1:00 PM. Surgeries are performed free of charge under the compulsory health insurance policy. All residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region can receive treatment. It is worth noting that the fifth city hospital is now headed by the former chief physician of the Semashko Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital, Sergey Bogdanov. Plans are in place to merge two clinics with the hospital. It was also reported that residents of Nizhny Novgorod can receive free cancer vaccines under the compulsory health insurance.
