The flood has reached Nizhny Novgorod: what measures are being taken

According to him, in the Kstovo district, as a result of active snow melting and rising water levels in the Kudya River, seasonal flooding has occurred at the low-water automobile bridge. There has been no need for the evacuation of residents. Warning signs have been installed on site, and specialists continue to monitor the situation. Nine anti-flood teams have been formed in the city. They consist of more than 4,000 people and over 600 units of equipment. In case of worsening conditions, temporary accommodation points have been prepared, designed for approximately 40,000 people. In addition, utility services are engaged in water pumping daily. Meanwhile, 20 crews are cleaning stormwater drains. As the mayor noted, city services are taking measures to reduce the consequences of the flood. "We are working to minimize the effects of melting: we are turning over the snow to make it melt faster, using vacuum machines, pumps — everything that helps to deal with the water more quickly and prevent serious flooding.
