The average salary in small towns of the Nizhny Novgorod region exceeded 69,000 rubles.

      April 6, 2026 17:21 Economy The Nizhny Novgorod region ranked 35th among the regions of Russia in terms of salary levels in small and medium-sized settlements. This is evidenced by the data from a study by RIA "Novosti". According to the results of 2025, the average salary in such settlements in the region amounted to 69.2 thousand rubles, including personal income tax. Over the year, the figure increased by 12.9%. The ratio of the average salary to the cost of a fixed set of goods and services reached 2.92. At the same time, the income of residents of small and medium-sized settlements is 77.1% of the wage level in large cities of the region. The leaders of the ranking were the Nenets and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs, as well as the Magadan region. In these regions, the average income of residents of small towns reached 150, 158, and 179 thousand rubles, respectively. Over the year, salaries there grew by 8.8%, 8.3%, and 18.8%. The last place was taken by the Chechen Republic, where the average salary amounted to 32.4 thousand rubles, increasing by 8.6% over the year. It is noted that the ranking was prepared based on official statistics. In the calculations, regional capitals and large cities with a population of over 200 thousand or with more than 50 thousand employed in large and medium organizations were excluded from the sample.
