Nizhny Novgorod residents were reminded of the procedure for obtaining foreign passports.

      April 3, 2026 19:37 Society Nizhny Novgorod residents are advised to check the validity of their foreign passports in advance and not to delay the issuance of new documents before the holiday season. As reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region, it is better to submit an application for a foreign passport before purchasing a tourist package to avoid queues and increased demand. The processing time for the document depends on the place of application: at the place of residence, it is up to 30 days, and at the place of actual residence — up to 90 days. The agency also noted the technical difficulties that have arisen in the multifunctional centers of Nizhny Novgorod when accepting applications for foreign passports valid for 10 years. Due to this, such a document can only be issued through "Gosuslugi" or by personal visit to migration departments. At the same time, for obtaining a foreign passport valid for five years, all methods of application submission are available — through the portal, MFC, or the Ministry of Internal Affairs departments. The police noted that currently, district migration departments in the city are operating under high load, making it difficult to schedule an appointment in the coming days after submitting an application. To reduce waiting time, residents are advised to contact the department for issuing foreign passports of the migration management located in the migration center at Akademika Sakharova Street, 18. There, according to the agency, queues are minimal and comfortable conditions for visitors have been created. Preliminary registration is also available through the state services portal.
