Registration of candidates for the "United Russia" primaries in the Nizhny Novgorod region continues.

      April 2, 2026 18:57 Politics The preliminary voting for 2026 is taking place ahead of the September elections for the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The procedure allows every Russian citizen to influence who will represent their interests from the party as a deputy at the local, regional, or federal level. Citizens of the Russian Federation over 21 years old, registered in the region, can submit an application to participate in the selection. For participants in the special military operation who take part in the preliminary voting, an additional 25% will be added to the results this year. Among the candidates who submitted documents to participate in the procedure is Denis Bakiev, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. He will participate in the preliminary voting as part of territorial group No. 25. "Before me, as well as before my colleagues from 'United Russia', stand large and extremely important goals: to significantly improve the quality of life for the residents of Nizhny Novgorod, actively promote socio-economic development, and the prosperity of our region and the country as a whole. Ahead of us are difficult but extremely important tasks. This is a great responsibility to the residents, and we understand that the future of every resident of the Nizhny Novgorod Region depends on our decisions and actions. Together, we will develop a strategy, step by step implement all transformations, and achieve a confident result aimed at creating favorable conditions for the life and work of every resident of our region," noted Denis Bakiev. Also, in electronic format, an application to participate in the preliminary voting for single-member electoral district No. 25 was submitted by Alexander Tabachnikov, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. "Participation in the preliminary voting is a measured and responsible step. It is an opportunity, relying on the trust of the people, to gain party approval – a confirmation of the unity of public and political support. Over the years of my deputy service, the 25th district has truly become dear to me. A clear understanding has formed of what people live for, what issues are most important to them, and which problems require priority solutions. Our joint dialogue has brought many results, but I want to do even more. I hope for the support of voters – their trust gives strength and motivates me to continue working," emphasized Alexander Tabachnikov. By May 15, candidates must publish two videos – about themselves and their program. The winners of the preliminary voting will be confirmed as candidates from 'United Russia' in the upcoming elections. The final list will be formed by the party at a conference in June 2026.
