The heads of district administrations are checking the progress of landscaping in their territories as part of the preparations for the month-long event declared by Mayor Yuri Shalabaev from April 5 to May 15. The head of the Prioksky district administration, Mikhail Shatilov, together with his deputy Roman Ukhabin and a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region from the United Russia faction, Natalia Smotrakova, inspected the work on the streets of Military Commissioners and Larina. Deputy head of the district Roman Ukhabin reported that the warm weather allows for cleaning the curb strips on central roads and inter-block passages, collecting garbage from lawns, sweeping pedestrian paths, and pothole repairs: "As of today, all headquarters with contractors have been conducted, work schedules have been formed approximately until May 1, so that we can completely clean the district in April, wash everything, clean it, paint, and repair all fences and bus stops. We are currently being allocated additional funds to replace the broken glass at bus stops vandalized by hooligans." He added that by April 15, the plan is to finish cleaning on Gagarin Avenue and Larina Street, where the main flow of cars is, and then move on to the "B" group roads – 40 Years of October Street, Ankhudino Highway, Korean Street, and 40 Years of Victory Street. Mikhail Shatilov instructed to expedite the cleaning of curb strips, especially along central roads. He noted the importance of community clean-up days: "Enterprises are already starting to clean their territories and the areas around them. Later, they will help the district – going out to yard territories together with management companies. There will also be a city-wide clean-up day, to which we invite residents. Nizhny Novgorod residents care about cleanliness, and many Priok residents participate. The instruction from the city head Yuri Shalabaev will be fulfilled, and the month-long event will be completed on time." According to Natalia Smotrakova, this winter was very difficult and snowy, but contractors are coping with the tasks set: "A lot of work is being done – both the city and the district are transforming right before our eyes. Today we have already made plans for the summer period: what to repair first, what to restore, what plantings need to be done. We talked to residents, and they notice that many workers have come out, various services are working." "This winter was hard for our janitors, residents helped, and now spring work is underway, sidewalks are clean, roads are being washed, and snow is being disposed of. I am sure that after the month-long event everything will be clean. We will meet the May holidays joyfully, united, and in a beautiful district!" shared local resident Natalia Krutova her spring mood. Earlier, the city head Yuri Shalabaev reported that he held a large meeting with district heads and road workers. "We discussed the urgent issue – bringing the city in order after the snowiest winter in the history of meteorological observations. Equipment is being re-equipped for 'summer', workers are cleaning roads, curb strips, removing garbage that has surfaced from under the snow, starting to wash fences and bus stops. Soon we will start washing the roadway, including with shampoo. And the traditional month-long event for our city will be held from April 5 to May 15. We are still determining the date for the city-wide clean-up day. We expect more than 20,000 Nizhny Novgorod residents to participate," the mayor said.
