In Nizhny Novgorod, the prosecutor's office has submitted a criminal case to the court against fraudsters who embezzled citizens' funds under the guise of providing legal services.

      The Prosecutor's Office of Nizhny Novgorod has approved the indictment in the criminal case against three local residents. They have been found guilty under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group, causing significant damage to a citizen). According to the investigation, the accused provided legal services to citizens and offered consultations in the field of law, followed by the embezzlement of funds. To create conditions for committing criminal activities, the leader of the organized group officially registered commercial organizations, rented premises on Belinsky, Oktyabrskaya, and Zvezdinka streets in Nizhny Novgorod, and recruited accomplices whom he trained in methods of psychological and moral influence, developing a scheme for committing crimes. The criminal intent of the accomplices was to conduct a series of activities aimed at preparing the necessary documents regarding the client's appeal and allegedly representing them in court in civil proceedings. Posing as lawyers in various areas of legislation, they convinced citizens to enter into contracts for legal services, knowing full well that the terms would not be fulfilled. As payment under the service contract, citizens transferred amounts ranging from 10,000 to 130,000 rubles. From May 2020 to February 2025, they embezzled more than 3 million rubles. The criminal case has been sent to the Nizhny Novgorod District Court for consideration on the merits.
