On April 3, in the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the speaker of the regional parliament, Evgeny Lyulin, met with students from Dzerzhinsk School No. 27. Among the participants of the meeting were winners and prize-winners of all-Russian Olympiads, finalists of the debate championship, young army members, winners of "Zarnitsa 2.0", and activists of the "Movement of the First", who organize city volunteer events. Also present at the meeting were students from the Mendeleev class of School No. 27, who had participated in ecological expeditions in Kamchatka, the Urals, and the Arctic. High school students represented the Nizhny Novgorod Region at the All-Russian Championship "Learning through Service. The First".
The students' introduction to the parliament began with a tour of the historical building. The schoolchildren visited the museum section, where unique archival documents and photographs telling the history of lawmaking in the region are displayed. They were able to see how the work of deputies has changed over the decades and what important decisions were made within these walls.
The staff of the Legislative Assembly also conducted a quiz for the high school students. The students competed in questions about the history, activities, and powers of the regional parliament, as well as recalling facts about famous residents of Nizhny Novgorod. The schoolchildren demonstrated creative activity and a serious approach to the task. The score gap between the teams that took prize places was minimal.
Afterward, in a dialogue format, the students asked the speaker of the parliament various questions: from the development of children's camps and the construction of sports facilities to the preservation of Orthodox culture and the role of religion in modern society.
"When I was coming here, I thought the meeting would be very serious, and I would be terribly nervous. But I immediately relaxed when I realized that a deputy is just like any other person who can help or give advice. I managed to ask a question about children's camps, and the answer pleased me: work on their development is ongoing. The tour confirmed my knowledge as a student of the socio-economic profile, and the quiz solidified it," shared 11th-grade student, volunteer, and organizer of city events Irina Volkova.
"I really enjoyed the meeting. It's exciting but very valuable. We should learn from such people who work here about building dialogue, restraint, and clarity of formulations. I noted a lot for myself," said Alexander Tabachko, a finalist of the All-Russian Debate Championship and a participant in the "Innovaticum" forum.
The speaker shared with the students the story of his path into politics: he never dreamed of becoming a deputy but came to the Legislative Assembly to defend the interests of his hometown when he worked at industrial enterprises.
One of the key topics of the conversation was the future of Dzerzhinsk. The speaker talked about a unique project for Russia, created in collaboration with Andrey Kuvaev, the director of the Center for Adaptive Sports "Parus", to create football fields for the youngest children. Last year, 19 playgrounds were opened in the city of chemists, and this year at least 15 are planned. In the future, the goal is to provide such playgrounds for all kindergartens in Dzerzhinsk.
"Sport is daily work that strengthens character and makes a person successful in any endeavor. In Dzerzhinsk, we started with kindergartens. My dream is for there to be a good sports complex in every school and every kindergarten in the region. We discussed this with the governor, and we will definitely implement it. In recent years, more sports facilities have been built in the region than in the previous decades. And this is just the beginning," emphasized Evgeny Lyulin.
At the end of the meeting, Evgeny Lyulin thanked the students for their sincere questions and concern. The most active participants in the parliamentary quiz were awarded memorable prizes by the speaker, and all participants in the meeting received souvenirs from the Legislative Assembly.
