As of April 1, 2026, by the decree of the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, a state of increased readiness has been introduced in the region due to the occurrence of flooding. This measure is aimed at coordinating efforts to prevent and eliminate the consequences of natural phenomena caused by the negative impact of floodwaters, as well as creating a monitoring system for the flood situation, preventing emergencies, and responding to them promptly. To ensure the safe passage of the spring flood of 2026, a grouping of forces and resources of the State System for Prevention and Response to Emergencies has been formed, consisting of 18,000 people and over 4,000 units of equipment. Evacuation measures are planned in areas prone to flooding. 150 temporary accommodation and feeding points for the population have been prepared. For evacuation, 429 units of vehicles and 136 units of watercraft are provided. The state of increased readiness will remain in effect until the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region issues a decree lifting it.
