A rabies quarantine has been declared in the Sechenovsky district.
On April 2, 2026, at 10:06 AM, Society In the Sechenovsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, a quarantine for rabies has been established. The corresponding decree from the governor has been published on the legal acts portal. Restrictive measures have been introduced in the village of Krasnoye. The source of the infection has been identified as a personal subsidiary farm, where an outbreak of the disease has been recorded. During the quarantine period in the epizootic focus, a number of strict prohibitions are being implemented. In particular, it is prohibited to treat animals susceptible to rabies, as well as to allow outsiders onto the territory. An exception has been made only for specialists and residents living there. Furthermore, the movement and regrouping of animals, skinning of deceased individuals, and hunting are prohibited. The latter is only allowed in cases related to regulating animal populations. Specific restrictions have also been outlined for the import and export of susceptible animals. Export is permitted only on the condition that the animal was vaccinated against rabies no less than 179 calendar days prior to shipment. This rule also applies to animals being sent for slaughter at specialized enterprises or equipped points. In the affected locality, fairs, exhibitions, and other events involving gatherings of animals are also prohibited. The capture of wild animals for subsequent export to zoos has also been banned. It should be noted that a quarantine for pasteurellosis in cattle has been introduced in the Pilninsky District. Pasteurellosis has been confirmed in two cows.
