In Nizhny Novgorod, police officers initiated a criminal case regarding a fatal accident in the Kanavinsky district. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The tragedy unfolded today, April 3. At around ten in the morning, a 28-year-old driver of a Mercedes Benz refrigerated truck was exiting from an adjacent territory near house No. 44B on Karl Marx Street. However, the man, as established by the police, did not ensure the safety of his maneuver. At that moment, a man was crossing the road along the line of the sidewalk, who was late to orient himself and ended up under the wheels of the multi-ton vehicle.
The injuries sustained by the pedestrian were incompatible with life - he died at the scene. Investigators qualified the driver's actions under part 3 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for liability for violating traffic rules and operating vehicles. An investigation is underway regarding the accident. The police urged drivers and pedestrians to be more attentive on the roads. Motorists were reminded that they should only exit from adjacent territories after ensuring safety, and pedestrians should cross the street strictly at designated places.
