Security measures have been strengthened in the Nizhny Novgorod region due to flooding.

      April 1, 2026 16:00 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a state of increased readiness has been introduced starting April 1, 2026, due to the onset of flooding. The corresponding decree was signed by the governor of the region. The decision was made to coordinate efforts to prevent and eliminate the consequences caused by the impact of floodwaters. The regime will also allow for systematic monitoring of the situation, warning of emergencies, and responding quickly to potential threats. To ensure the safe passage of the spring flood in the region, a grouping of forces and resources of the State Emergency Service has been formed in advance, consisting of about 18,000 people, with more than 4,000 units of equipment involved. In areas prone to flooding, evacuation plans for the population have been developed in case the situation worsens. 150 temporary accommodation and feeding points have been prepared, and the use of 429 units of vehicles and 136 watercraft has been planned. The state of increased readiness will remain in effect until it is lifted by a separate decree from the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
