Nizhny Novgorod IT specialist created an AI assistant for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder.
March 31, 2026 10:12 Society Nizhny Novgorod programmer Danila Balabaev has developed an AI assistant to help parents of children with autism spectrum disorder. The service is called "Nearby" and is already available on the Telegram messenger.
As reported by pravda-nn.ru, the idea for the application came to the developer after his daughter was diagnosed with ASD. Balabaev, who works in the IT field, decided to apply his professional skills to create a tool that would help families navigate the vast amount of information about autism.
Development began in November 2025. The assistant is based on a wealth of scientific publications and data, including research on autism and materials from Russian legislation. The system operates on an AI platform and uses a mechanism that allows it to provide responses tailored to the user's specific situation.
The service helps parents understand medical documents, obtain information about therapies, find specialists and clinics, as well as track important deadlines related to treatment and examinations. At the same time, the assistant does not provide medical recommendations and does not replace doctors' prescriptions, serving solely an informational function.
According to the developer, around one hundred people have already used the application, including parents of children with ASD and specialists. In the future, there are plans to expand the functionality and develop proactive capabilities of the service.
