Rostekhnadzor recognized the Nizhny Novgorod Hydroelectric Power Station as safe for operation.

      March 27, 2026 14:48 Society Rostekhnadzor has approved the safety declaration of the hydraulic structures of the Nizhny Novgorod Hydroelectric Power Station, which is part of PAO "RusHydro". The document confirms the normal level of safety of the hydraulic structures — this is the maximum possible assessment within the framework of current regulatory requirements.

      The declaration is a key document confirming the compliance of the structures with established safety criteria, design solutions, as well as current technical norms and regulations. The new document will be valid for five years.

      Before its preparation, a commission pre-declaration inspection of the facilities was conducted. Representatives from "RusHydro", specialized organizations, the Volga-Oka management of Rostekhnadzor, and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region participated in the inspection.

      The hydraulic structures of the station were built according to the approved project and were put into industrial operation by the state commission in 1961.

      Throughout the operation of the hydro complex, no accidents have been recorded at its structures. The proper technical condition of the facilities is ensured by the station's personnel, which was also confirmed by the latest comprehensive inspection that was completed in early 2026.

      It was previously reported that the Gorodetsky hydro complex is planned to be launched in 2026.
