In Nizhny Novgorod, the interior finishing of the Gorky Literary Museum is being completed.

According to the mayor, in these days, the Volga capital has once again become a place of attraction for researchers and all those studying the legacy of Maxim Gorky. In 2026, it will be 158 years since the writer's birth. "Today we are opening the traditional 'Gorky Readings', in which the writer's descendants are participating – great-granddaughter Ekaterina Peshkova and great-great-grandson Timofey Peshkov. It is important for the city that the conversation about the famous fellow countryman continues in a lively scientific and cultural dialogue," noted Yuri Shalabaev.

      He emphasized that a significant role in this work is played by the restoration of the Gorky Literary Museum. The building, according to him, is literally being brought back to life thanks to the painstaking work of restorers who rely on archival photographs and preserved elements of the interior. "It's not just about the consequences of the fire; specialists are also recreating what was lost during the Soviet years. The historical pattern, the depth of the halls, and the texture of the materials are emerging. The internal finishing is currently being completed in the building," the head of the city reported.

      At this point, complex stucco work has been restored, chandelier assembly is underway, and work with marble, wood, and decorative details is nearing completion. The gilded stucco decor gives the halls a soft glow. The mayor called this work truly jewel-like. Moscow craftsmen are also assembling unique fabric interiors for the Velvet Hall. "As soon as dry weather sets in, we will begin landscaping the area," added Yuri Shalabaev.
