A former employee of the Nizhny Novgorod military enlistment office was convicted for accepting bribes from conscripts.
March 26, 2026 17:58 Incidents Employees of the FSB of Russia for the Moscow Military District identified and suppressed the illegal activities of a 64-year-old native of Gorky. This was reported by the agency's press service.
As established by law enforcement, Valery Tsayukov acted as part of a group in collusion and was engaged in searching for citizens unwilling to serve in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. For a monetary reward, the man facilitated their illegal release from service.
Tsayukov previously worked in the conscription department of the military commissariat of the Soviet district of Nizhny Novgorod. According to the FSB, he maintained corrupt connections with current employees of the military commissariats of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region. This allowed him to help conscripts avoid service for bribes, as well as resolve issues related to the assignment of their service locations.
On March 25, the Lenin District Court found him guilty of mediating in bribery.
The court sentenced him to 3.5 years in a general regime colony.
It was previously reported that in Nizhny Novgorod, a former traffic police inspector was sentenced to probation for receiving a bribe in the form of a pit bike.
