The seminar on the rehabilitation of children with hearing impairments brought together doctors, educators, and parents from Nizhny Novgorod.

      The event was organized as part of the United Russia party project "Strong Family." A two-day seminar titled "Family - the Foundation of Child Rehabilitation. Modern Aspects of Rehabilitation for Children with Hearing Impairments" took place in Nizhny Novgorod. The event was held under the federal party project "Strong Family" with the participation of the regional branch of the United Russia party, the NGO "I Hear the World!" and specialists from the Federal State Budgetary Institution "St. Petersburg Research Institute of Ear, Nose, and Throat" of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The seminar brought together doctors, deaf educators, representatives of public organizations, and parents. The focus was on modern approaches to the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of children with hearing impairments, as well as the role of the family in this process. On the first day, at the United Russia Public Support Headquarters, participants discussed key stages of supporting a child, exchanged practices, and held a round table. "The rehabilitation of a child with hearing impairment is impossible without the active participation of the family. Our task is not only to provide medical assistance but also to build a support system in which parents become full participants in this process," emphasized the regional coordinator of the United Russia party project "Strong Family," Irina Goncharova.

      During the seminar, modern methods of audiological diagnostics, approaches to hearing and speech rehabilitation, and the experience of the regional audiological assistance service were presented. Special attention was given to issues of cochlear implantation and subsequent support for children. Elena Popova, the General Director of the NGO "I Hear the World!" noted the importance of interagency cooperation: "When doctors, educators, and public organizations come together, we achieve results that truly change the quality of life for children. It is important to support the family at every stage - from diagnosis to full social adaptation of the child."

      As a result of the meeting, participants agreed on further development of cooperation, expansion of practices for similar training events, and strengthening support for families raising children with hearing impairments. The second day was dedicated to practical work: master classes, consultations, and meetings with medical professionals and parents. "A child who has the opportunity to hear cannot undergo rehabilitation separately from their loved ones. The family becomes the main environment for their recovery and development. Our task is to integrate all the stages that the child goes through, creating a unified ecosystem around them, where representatives of healthcare, social policy, and education work together. We provide parents and specialists with tools that will allow them to integrate the child into the social environment," noted Elena Popova, General Director of the NGO "I Hear the World!" and a member of the public council of the federal party project "Strong Family."

      At the master class, defectologist and deaf educator Olga Zontova discussed innovative developments in the rehabilitation of children with hearing impairments with medical professionals. "For our regional specialists, such communication with high-level colleagues is both methodological assistance and an opportunity to showcase their developments and receive feedback. This enhances professional status and confidence in their work," shared Svetlana Belozerova, chief physician of the children's regional hospital.

      Parents were informed about methods of socialization for children and projects that help integrate children into their peer environment. Each child received individual consultations and recommendations for surgeries from the otolaryngologist Sergey Levin. "We are very glad that we could consult with such specialists without wasting time and effort on a long trip. For us, the main thing now is to understand whether implantation is suitable for our child and how to stop the deterioration of hearing. We received not only answers to these questions but also valuable advice on the further development of the child. I hope I can convey this expert opinion to the teachers so they know how to communicate and work correctly with my son," shared seminar participant Marina Plikova.
