The head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, checked the progress of the major renovation at the Bolshomokrin Secondary School in the Kstovo District.
The head of the city of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, checked the progress of the comprehensive capital renovation of the main school building in the village of Bolshoye Mokroye in the Kstovo district. Together with the deputy head of the city, Leonid Streltsov, the head of the Kstovo district administration, Ivan Ulanov, the director of the Department of Construction and Capital Repairs, Tatyana Geraskina, the director of the Department of Education, Irina Boryakova, the general director of the MBU "GlavUKS," Sergey Razzhivin, and the director of the Bolshmokrin Secondary School, Tatyana Paskhina, the mayor discussed the key stages of the project's implementation. As Yuri Shalabaev noted, the school, built in 1960, "has never been renovated so globally." "The renovation is taking place on all fronts; the contractor is currently finishing the dismantling. The institution will completely replace the power supply, water supply, and drainage systems, ventilation, video surveillance, security and fire alarms, repair the facade and roof, internal ceilings, stairs, and install new doors and plumbing. I instructed to ensure that the work on protecting the basement from flooding by groundwater is carried out," Yuri Shalabaev said about the planned work at the school. Furthermore, according to him, after the renovation, the school will be equipped with new equipment, the territory will be improved, and a playground with exercise equipment will be created for students outside. "I instructed to strictly monitor the deadlines for the work because a school in a small settlement is not only a place where children learn but also a center of public life that needs to be returned to operation as soon as possible," the head of the city emphasized. As the head of the Kstovo district, Ivan Ulanov, noted, the school is the only secondary school in the village of Bolshoye Mokroye. In the building undergoing capital repairs, children from grades 5 to 11 studied – 211 people, and a total of 352 students are enrolled in the educational institution. During the renovation, the educational process is organized in the building of the primary school. The general director of MBU "GlavUKS," Sergey Razzhivin, reported that the main dismantling work at the site is almost complete. "The contractor started repairs in December. To date, the dustiest and heaviest work has been completed. Currently, engineering communications are being laid, structures are being restored, partitions are being installed, and pre-finishing work is underway," Sergey Razzhivin said. The school director, Tatyana Paskhina, emphasized that the capital renovation has been a long-awaited event for the entire village: "The school really needed updating for a long time. In 2025, it will turn 65 years old, and everyone – teachers, parents, and children – has been waiting for this renovation. Now all students are temporarily studying in the primary school building, but they understand that this is a necessary measure for future comfort. We are very much looking forward to when the children return to the updated, bright, and cozy school." According to the director, after the work is completed, the school will have a modern educational space: new classrooms and equipment, renovated corridors, and a gym. The head of the Bolshmokrin territorial department, Svetlana Buzorina, also noted the significance of the project for the entire settlement: "This is a very important event for our residents. Of the nine settlements that are part of our territorial department, children from eight settlements come here to study. We have long awaited the capital repairs, and now we are very glad that they have begun. We are confident that thanks to the attention of the head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, the work will be carried out efficiently and on time." During the visit, Yuri Shalabaev also discussed with relevant leaders the progress of capital repairs at other educational institutions in "big Nizhny." As noted by the director of the city Department of Construction and Capital Repairs, Tatyana Geraskina, within the framework of the national project "Youth and Children," capital repairs are being carried out in six schools in Nizhny Novgorod, with work planned to be completed this year in three of them – in Bolshmokrin School in the Kstovo district, School No. 123 in the Lenin district, and School No. 48 in the Prioksky district of Nizhny Novgorod. "We have also started capital repairs in several more schools, with completion scheduled for next year: School No. 1 in the Kstovo district, School No. 93 in the Moskovsky district, and School No. 76 in the Sormovsky district. We also plan to carry out a capital repair of the roof at Lyceum No. 28 this year. Contracting organizations have been determined for all facilities, and work is proceeding on schedule," she clarified.
