The sale of over-the-counter medications will be opened in the branches of "Russian Post".
On March 25, 2026, 15:42, the "Russian Post" is set to undergo a large-scale modernization to make its services more modern and convenient for citizens. As part of this initiative, banks will be prohibited from charging fees for payments made through post office branches. Additionally, marketplaces will be required to open order pickup points in post offices. These changes are outlined in a bill that the Ministry of Digital Development has already submitted for government review, reports 360.ru.
To reduce paper costs and develop the agency's infrastructure, it has been proposed to issue paper receipts for utility services only to pensioners, beneficiaries, and those without an account on the "Gosuslugi" portal. Other citizens will receive electronic bills. This will save funds that can be used to improve postal services.
It is also proposed to allow "Russian Post" direct access to mailboxes, which will enhance the security of delivering letters, newspapers, and other notifications.
Over-the-counter medications from a government-approved list are planned to be sold at post offices.
To increase operational efficiency, "Russian Post" will be able to engage third-party companies for the delivery of commercial parcels. Furthermore, the Ministry of Digital Development has proposed requiring the Social Fund to pay increased fees for delivering pensions, benefits, and social payments by postal workers. This will help compensate for the operator's losses.
It is noted that all these measures are aimed at developing the postal industry, expanding the range of services for citizens, improving the quality and security of mail delivery, and strengthening the financial stability of "Russian Post."
