      March 24, 2026 15:02 Society The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, announced serious personnel changes in the leading medical institutions of the region.

      Thus, starting March 25, the new chief physician of the Semashko Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital will be the head of the Nizhny Novgorod Oncology Center, the chief freelance oncologist of the regional health ministry, Sergey Gamayunov. He will continue to lead the oncology center, Nikitin clarified.

      Both the Regional Clinical Hospital and the Oncology Center are included in the flagship project "City of Health," aimed at significantly expanding the capabilities of high-tech medicine for adult residents of Nizhny Novgorod.

      According to the governor, Sergey Gamayunov will oversee all processes related to the establishment of a Nuclear Medicine Center on the territory of the Regional Clinical Hospital as part of the implementation of the national project "Sustained and Active Life." There, radiopharmaceuticals will be produced, complex diagnostic procedures will be conducted, including more than 8,000 PET/CT studies per year, as well as accompanying therapeutic measures.

      "Yesterday we learned the results of the state procurement competition for the supply of PET/CT, which is scheduled for 2028," noted the regional head.

      There are also plans to develop high-tech surgery. The new head of the regional hospital will work on expanding the regional organ and tissue transplantation program.

      "In this direction, the Nizhny Novgorod Region must continuously approach the level of leading federal centers, adopting their experience," clarified Nikitin.

      Sergey Bogdanov, who previously headed the Semashko Regional Clinical Hospital, will become the chief physician of Hospital No. 5, which specializes in surgical treatment, assisting patients with heart and vascular pathologies (including heart attacks and strokes), as well as gastrointestinal and lung diseases.

      At the same time, the former chief physician of GKB No. 5, Nikolai Rodin, will head City Hospital No. 33 in Nizhny Novgorod. He will develop one of the largest multidisciplinary hospitals in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, which includes the regional toxicology center.
