      March 24, 2026 12:40 Sports The "Nagorny" Sports Palace will continue to operate as an ice arena and a space for cultural events even after the launch of the new Ice Palace at the Arrow. This was reported by IA "Vremya N" citing the regional Ministry of Sports.

      The agency noted that the facility is actively used in the current sports season. Training sessions for Nizhny Novgorod hockey teams, as well as athletes from the Olympic reserve school for ice sports, are held there. In addition, the schedule includes various sports and cultural events.

      Earlier, Governor Gleb Nikitin expressed his views on the future of the Sports Palace on Gagarin Avenue. He emphasized that the building requires renovation, and a project is planned to be developed in the coming years. According to the regional head, "Nagorny" needs not only technical updates but also restoration of its historical appearance.

      The position was also voiced by the Minister of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Dmitry Kabailo, in an interview with NIA "Nizhny Novgorod." He noted that despite the heavy workload, "Nagorny" operates as efficiently as possible and continues to fulfill its assigned tasks.

      The minister also reported that during the renovation period at the Konovaleko Sports Palace, the hockey club "Torpedo-Gorky" will be based in "Nagorny."
