The Nizhny Novgorod man who beheaded his daughter-in-law will serve 15 years.

      On March 25, 2026, at 10:18, Incidents: A local resident in the Shatkovsky district was found guilty of murder with particular cruelty, as well as desecration of the body of the deceased. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      The tragedy occurred on the night of January 7, 2025, in an apartment on Zheleznodorozhnaya Street in the working settlement of Shatki. During a conflict with a relative, who was his daughter-in-law, the man inflicted numerous stab wounds on her.

      The woman died at the scene from her injuries. After committing the crime, the man decapitated her.

      The evidence collected by investigators from the Shatkovsky inter-district department of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod region was deemed sufficient by the court to issue a guilty verdict. The man was found guilty of murder with particular cruelty, as well as desecration of the body of the deceased.

      He was held in custody during the investigation. The court sentenced him to 15 years and 3 months of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime colony. After his release, his freedom will be restricted for another 1 year and 6 months.

      It was previously reported that in Dzerzhinsk, a man received eight years for attempting to burn his cohabitant.
