The results of the work of the GTO testing centers were discussed in Nizhny Novgorod.

      In the Duma of Nizhny Novgorod, a meeting of the permanent commission on patriotic education, youth policy, physical culture, and sports was held under the chairmanship of Vladimir Poddymnikov-Gordeiev. The speaker of the Duma, Evgeny Chintsov, also participated in the work.

      The deputies heard information about the activities of the Nizhny Novgorod Museum of the History of the Special Military Operation and the feats of its participants, the work of municipal testing centers for the "Ready for Labor and Defense" complex, and the results of the filling of sports grounds during the winter season.

      As reported by acting director of the Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy Daniil Kormshchikov, the museum of the Special Military Operation, opened in Nizhny Novgorod on March 21, 2024, at the request of the head of state, has become one of the first such institutions in the country. Its task is to provide reliable information about the reasons and course of the Special Military Operation, as well as to perpetuate the memory of its participants. The project is aimed at patriotic education and fostering respect for the history of the country.

      The museum can be visited by appointment on weekdays and weekends. Tours (12+) are conducted by veterans of the Special Military Operation.

      The museum's exhibition includes several thematic zones. The federal hall features video materials, a collection of trophy weapons from NATO countries, and drones of various types. The VR zone organizes virtual tours of combat zones and restored infrastructure. A separate space is dedicated to the heroes of the Special Military Operation and includes over 800 photographs. The regional hall tells about the support for participants of the Special Military Operation and their families, as well as the region's contribution and the development of the volunteer movement. In the "bunker zone," visitors can familiarize themselves with samples of equipment and try their hand at being a drone operator.

      According to Evgeny Chintsov, more than 65,000 people have visited the museum during its operation. He noted that the project has established itself as a sought-after interactive space: "The main thing is that thanks to enthusiasts with the support of the city and regional leadership, the site, as an element of the patriotic education system, continues to actively develop."

      Director of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports Anton Ermakov reported that there are six testing centers for the "Ready for Labor and Defense" program in the city, including the sports palaces "Northern Star," "Zarechye," "Youth," as well as sports schools "Radiy" and "Olympus" and the municipal center for sports facilities and GTO. In 2025, 19,146 people passed the standards compared to 15,730 the previous year, of which 7,720 received distinction badges.

      Every year, about 150 events for fulfilling the GTO standards and more than 20 festivals involving children, youth, labor collectives, and family teams are held in Nizhny Novgorod.

      The meeting also discussed the condition of sports grounds. Of the 190 facilities under the municipal center's management, 59 are hockey rinks. In the past season, 46 of them were used for ice skating, and another 11 for winter football. As part of the "Sports in Every Yard" project, from December 2025 to February 2026, 89 classes were held at 13 sites, with 798 participants.

      Vladimir Poddymnikov-Gordeiev noted that the development of the GTO and the maintenance of sports infrastructure are under constant control of the relevant department. According to him, over the past five years, the number of people wishing to pass the standards has increased eightfold, and yard training attracts residents of all ages. "It is necessary to continue working, without slowing down the pace, aimed at strengthening the health of our citizens," he emphasized.

      Following the meeting, the deputies took the information into account. The commission also approved further changes to the city budget and supported adjustments to the list of privileged categories of students and learners in municipal educational organizations.
