The fight against the aftermath of a heavy snowfall continues in Nizhny Novgorod. About 18 thousand cubic meters of snow were removed from the city over the past day. This was reported on January 8 by the city's mayor, Yuri Shalabaev, on his Telegram channel.
According to the head of the city, precipitation has not stopped for the second day in a row. The situation may worsen in the near future: meteorologists forecast an increase in snow cover.
"Today an addition of about 10 centimeters of snow is expected, tomorrow — almost 20 centimeters, and the day after tomorrow — another 9 centimeters," Shalabaev specified.
To eliminate the consequences of the bad weather, 855 units of specialized equipment and more than three thousand municipal service workers have been deployed in the city.
Earlier it was reported that cyclone "Francis" will reach the Nizhny Novgorod region on January 9.
