Severe icing is expected in the Nizhny Novgorod region on Thursday, January 8, and also during the night into Friday, January 9, the region’s Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations warns.
Difficult conditions are forecast on roads in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Rescuers warned residents that icy conditions increase the likelihood of road traffic accidents on roads at all levels — from federal to local.
Residents are asked, where possible, to refrain from traveling by private vehicles. It is especially important to avoid parking cars under trees, power lines and unstable structures.
If downed power lines or other consequences of the bad weather are discovered, residents are asked to report them immediately to the local administration.
Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations warned residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region about a heavy snowfall.
