Society. The traffic police temporarily restricted the movement of buses and trucks on the federal M-12 "Vostok" highway running through Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
According to the state company Avtodor, the restrictions apply to the section of the highway from km 700 to 836 in Tatarstan. The reason is adverse meteorological and road conditions.
To combat the bad weather, 16 combined road maintenance vehicles, four tractors, a tow truck and six crews of accident commissioners have been deployed.
Drivers of passenger cars are urged to postpone trips until the weather improves.
According to meteorologists, over the next 24 hours neighboring Tatarstan is forecast to see heavy wet snow, visibility reduced to 500 meters and gusty winds.
Earlier it was reported that due to the bad weather Nizhny Novgorod airport has been forced to urgently accept flights bound for Kazan.
Also note that toll rates on the M-12 are set to increase in 2026.
