      On the eve of the New Year, Nizhny Novgorod restaurateurs staged a real celebration for young patients who welcomed 2026 not at home but within hospital walls. This was reported by Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of the medical publication "Stacionar-press," on his Telegram channel.

      He noted that although up to 90% of patients are discharged from hospitals by December 31, there are those who cannot make it home. Among them are children undergoing continuous courses of chemotherapy. Their New Year's Eve is spent not by a Christmas tree but under an IV drip. Nearby are parents who do not leave their side.

      It was to these children on the very eve of the holiday that a New Year's miracle came — Nizhny Novgorod restaurateurs brought a festive dinner to the hospital. The menu included a Christmas pie, a diet version of Olivier salad, pike cutlets with mashed potatoes, medovik (honey cake), tangerines, juice and a gift from the Khokhloma brand.

      Nikonov added that New Year's wishes are also made in the hospital ward, but there they sound especially sincere. They do not dream of fireworks and toys — only of having their mother nearby, of the illness receding, and of spending next New Year at home.
