A Nizhny Novgorod student lost 44,000 rubles trying to save money on buying the latest smartphone. According to the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the 19-year-old met the seller in the shopping center parking lot on Piskunova Street. He handed over his old mobile phone, valued at 40,000 rubles, and paid the rest in cash. But when he opened the box, he found a cheap copy inside.
Detectives tracked down the suspect during a trip to Moscow. He turned out to be a 24-year-old resident of Krasnodar, who already had convictions for similar scams. The seller did not argue: he confessed to everything and returned all the money to the student.
The police warn: if the price seems too tempting and the seller on the street keeps rushing you — that's a sure sign they're trying to cheat you.
