A woman was rescued from a fire in a multi-story building on Engels Street in Sormovo.

      In the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod on Engels Street on December 28 a fire broke out in one of the apartments of a multi-storey residential building. This was reported by the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

      Fire and rescue units arriving at the scene encountered heavy smoke rising from the window of an apartment on the fourth floor. The area of the fire was about four square meters.

      Thanks to the professionalism and prompt actions of the firefighters, one person — a woman whose identity is currently being established — was evacuated from the building.

      A total of 26 fire service personnel were involved in extinguishing the fire and 7 units of specialized equipment were used.

      Investigators from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
