Rental points for essential items for newborns have opened in Vyksa and Sarov. Cribs, strollers, high chairs, car seats, infant carriages and many other items needed by children in their first months and years of life have been purchased for their operation.
Recall that the rental of items for newborns is one of the five support measures of the Russian Ministry of Labour’s “demographic menu” provided to the region. The rental points operate within the framework of the national project "Family". In total, 21 such points were opened in the region in 2025.
In Vyksa, the rental point for essential items for newborns opened on December 16 at the Comprehensive Center for Social Services (Gogolya microdistrict, 48a). About 370 items were purchased for it.
As Marina Potapova, director of the local Comprehensive Center for Social Services, noted, 15 contracts with families were signed on the opening day of the rental point, and 42 items for children were issued for use.
“The most popular items among local residents on the opening day were strollers for walks, high chairs, car seats and infant carriages. We tried to purchase very high-quality items and received a lot of positive feedback from families about these goods,” she said.
In Sarov, the rental point opened on December 25. It will operate on the basis of the Center for Social Services for the Elderly and Disabled (11 Shvernika St.). 230 different children’s items were purchased for the rental point.
Please note that the rental services are available to citizens of the Russian Federation who have a place of residence or stay in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, who are raising children under the age of three, and who belong to one of the following categories: large families, single mothers, student families, families with disabled children, low-income families, young families (parents up to 35 years old), families of participants in the special military operation. When applying to the rental points, it is necessary to provide supporting documents.
The Ministry of Social Policy emphasized that families not only from the municipalities where such centers operate but also from other localities of the region can use the rental services. Rental periods for various items vary depending on their purpose. This year, about a thousand Nizhny Novgorod families have already used the rental points’ services.
The national project "Family" started in the country in 2025 by the order of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. The new national project is the successor to the previously implemented national projects "Demography" and "Culture". It envisages measures that contribute to the comprehensive development of families: expansion of support measures, creation of conditions for active longevity of the older generation, and provision of high-quality and accessible medical care.
