      Nizhny Novgorod activist and former history teacher Ilya Myaskovsky was removed from the list of terrorists and extremists. Updated data appeared on Rosfinmonitoring’s official website on December 24.

      Myaskovsky himself confirmed the information on his Telegram channel, noting that he has not yet received official explanations from the agency. He links the sudden removal from the registry to a legal error. Two years ago a court fined the Nizhny Novgorod resident 250,000 rubles on five counts of discrediting the Russian army.

      “Our fine was paid on January 25, 2024, the prescribed period long ago expired. If I was included on the list on that basis, then that was incorrect. The error has been corrected, one would assume,” Ilya Myaskovsky wrote on his Telegram channel.

      Recall that the Nizhny Novgorod resident was added to the registry just a week ago, on December 19. By law this entails the immediate blocking of bank accounts. After the official removal from the list the restrictions should be lifted. According to the activist, his inquiry to Rosfinmonitoring has so far remained without a detailed response, but the “terrorist” status has been officially removed from him.
